How to add your website to Google Business Profile
If you’ve got a Google Business Profile (the thing that shows your business on Google Maps), you’ll want to add your new website link to it. Takes about two minutes.
Why it matters
When someone searches “plumber near me” or “roofer in Manchester,” Google shows a map with three businesses. That’s your Google Business Profile. If your profile has a website link, people can tap it and land on your site. If it doesn’t, they’ll tap your competitor’s instead.
How to do it
-
Go to Google and search for your business name. You should see your Business Profile appear on the right side of the screen (on desktop) or at the top (on your phone).
-
Click “Edit profile” — it’s a button right on your profile when you’re logged into the Google account that owns it.
-
Find the “Website” field. It’s in the Contact section.
-
Type in your new website address. That’s the one we gave you — something like
davetheplumber.co.uk. Make sure you include thehttps://at the start:https://davetheplumber.co.uk -
Save it. Done.
If you can’t find the edit button
You might not be logged into the right Google account. Try logging out and back in with the email address you used to set up the profile.
If you never set up a Google Business Profile, have a look at our guide to setting one up. It’s free and takes about 20 minutes.
If you don’t have a Google Business Profile at all
You should. It’s free, and it’s one of the best things you can do for getting found on Google. Our full guide walks you through setting one up from scratch.
