How to point your domain to your Blosm site

Your domain is your website address — the bit people type into their browser, like davetheplumber.co.uk. Once your Blosm site is ready, you need to point your domain at it so visitors land on your new website.

Don’t worry — this is the hardest bit, and it’s still only about 10 minutes.

If you don’t have a domain yet

No problem. We can sort one out for you. A .co.uk domain costs about £5–10 a year. Give us a ring or text us and we’ll help you pick one and get it registered.

If you already own a domain

You’ll need to log in to wherever you bought it. Common ones are:

  • GoDaddy — godaddy.com
  • 123 Reg — 123-reg.co.uk
  • Namecheap — namecheap.com
  • Google Domains — now Squarespace Domains

Can’t remember where you bought it? Check your email for “domain renewal” — that’ll tell you who you’re paying.

What to do (step by step)

  1. Log in to your domain provider (the company you bought the domain from).

  2. Find the DNS settings. It’s usually under “DNS”, “DNS management”, “Nameservers”, or “Domain settings.” Every provider puts it somewhere slightly different, but it’s always there.

  3. Change the nameservers to the ones we give you. We’ll text or email you the exact nameservers — they look something like this:

    ns1.blosm.dev
    ns2.blosm.dev
  4. Save the changes. That’s it from your end.

  5. Wait a bit. Domain changes can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours to kick in. Usually it’s done within an hour or two.

What happens after

Once the domain is pointed at us, your website will be live at your address. The padlock (SSL certificate) sorts itself out automatically — usually within a few minutes. You don’t need to do anything else.
